We are incredibly proud to share that Ruth Landau Harp Early Learning has been named the Western Australian Winner of the Excellence in Early STEM Education Award at the Little Scientists Early STEM Education Awards 2026.

Our winning project, “How can we help Mr. Hippo to come down safely?”, followed the children’s curiosity and imagination over four months as they worked together to solve a very important problem: helping Mr. Hippo safely get down from the roof! Through designing, building and testing ladders, the children explored the strength and stability of different structures and materials before even baking cakes to tempt Mr. Hippo down. The project demonstrated the power of combining storytelling, play and STEM, with children actively involved in questioning, investigating, problem-solving, testing ideas and reflecting on their learning.

This recognition reflects the way STEM is woven into everyday learning at RLH. From exploring the natural world through our Bush Kindy program to designing, experimenting and investigating in our learning environments, children are encouraged to see themselves as capable thinkers, researchers and problem-solvers. We are especially proud of our educators, whose thoughtful and intentional teaching creates opportunities for children to wonder, question and discover. Most importantly, we celebrate our children, whose curiosity, creativity and endless questions are at the heart of everything we do.

Being recognised at a state level is an incredible honour and a wonderful acknowledgement of the high-quality early childhood education taking place at Ruth Landau Harp Early Learning.
