Growth and Development

In the Explorers room, care forms the foundation of our curriculum and children are supported to develop holistically across all developmental domains.

Physical, social, emotional, cognitive and communication.

With a focus on Relational Pedagogy (building strong and secure attachments) and endless opportunities to play and explore, the goal of our program in the Explorers room is to create environments that are safe, warm, welcoming and inclusive for all children. Skilled Educators nurture and support the whole child through each stage of development, laying the foundations for a life-long love of learning.

Consistent and stable staffing as well as smaller children to adult ratios, supports families and children to get to know each other well.  Thorough orientations with increasing visitation periods are another important tool that supports the building of relationships between carer, parent and child and helps us to ensure a successful start to their Early Learning journey.

Our Day

The service opens at 7:00am and the children are grouped together with the same familiar staff until 7.30am, when they will transition to their own learning spaces. At 8:45am The babies celebrate the new day, singing songs in both English and Hebrew as part of our morning Davening. These sessions are led by an enthusiastic team of Jewish Studies Educators. Morning tea follows and includes a variety of nutritious options that cater to the varying needs of our 0-2 year old’s.

Routines for sleep are both flexible and responsive to the needs of the children. Young children will have a range of differing needs, depending on age, stage and family practices. Our sleeping spaces are within the main area of the Explorers room, allowing Educators to closely monitor and supervise all sleeping children.

When the babies wake from their morning sleep, they have opportunities to freely play and explore their environments both indoors and out. Educators create intentional environments and experiences that encourage; curiosity, wonder, challenge and community.

Lunch begins around 11.00am and children are invited to come and sit together in small groups with the Educators and enjoy a meal. Similarly to morning tea, this will range from solids and finger food, to puree depending on what they are currently eating and trying at home.

As our day continues, the routines of the day will change and respond to the needs of each child for additional sleep, meals and bottles. Afternoon tea is available around 2.00pm, after which there are more opportunity for the children to engage and interact with the educators and with each other through a variety of environments and experiences.
