Harp Kindergarten is a unique environment that offers a soft and smooth transition between an informal and formal learning environment.
This environment is a context for learning through play which lets children organise and make sense of their social worlds as they engage actively with people, objects and representations. This approach allows for the expressions of personality and uniqueness; enhances dispositions such as curiosity and creativity; enables children to make connections between prior experiences and new learning; assists children to develop relationships and concepts and stimulates a sense of wellbeing.
As well as play-based learning, our qualified teacher will plan and build child initiated intentional teaching experiences which integrates both the Australian Curriculum and the Early Years Learning Framework to extend on and grow prior learning. Teachers in the Kindergarten are focused on providing opportunities for learning that has school readiness at its core including language, literacy and numeracy.
These experiences are planned by the teachers, but incidental for the child, and therefore support our philosophy of learning in a relaxed atmosphere. These incidental experiences and planned, intentional small and whole group sessions allow your child to develop their social and emotional skills to enable them to contribute within the classroom environment, such as joining and participating in group experiences, respecting others and expressing and contributing their ideas through reflection and evaluation of the program.
